Sleep
Women,
Food
Wine
Sleep,
You can’t have one
without the other,
And you can’t have
the other without one,
You can’t have
chalk without cheese,
And you can’t have
black without white,
You can’t have ice
without water
And you can’t have
light without dark,
You can’t have
long legs without a great smile,
And you can’t eyes
without her sparkle.
He loves them,
Tall and slim,
He loves them,
Short and wide,
He loves them a
little tender,
He loves them a
little plump,
He loves them a
little strong,
He loves them a
little weak,
He loves them with
a little colour,
He loves them with
none,
His life was
started by them,
And his life will
be ended by them,
And in between,
He will spend his
time,
Chasing them,
Satisfying their
every need,
Their every
desire,
They will never be
far,
They will never
get away,
He will never
surrender,
He may want,
He may seek,
Yet,
He will never have
that respite,
Just a rest,
For a moment or
two.
A movie was once
made,
A challenge,
For him to tackle,
To be himself,
That’s all he
could do,
To be the best,
He had to find his
salvation,
He had to win the
game,
He had to take all
that he could,
Wresting,
Stealing,
Sneaking,
It from his mates,
There could only
be the one winner,
Or maybe two?
Each tasty morsel,
Working its way
down his throat,
Each tasty morsel,
Hiding away,
Waiting for the
hunter,
To shoot it down,
To capture it,
To divulge it,
It was his,
His to own,
His to control,
His hunger,
Knew no bounds,
His hunger,
Knew no
inhibitions,
His hunger,
Devoured,
And delighted,
In all he get,
His hunger,
Knew his best
friend,
And his best
friend,
Knew him
intimately,
Helping him,
To win that game,
From which,
A movie was once
made.
Red,
White,
Sparkling,
Shiraz,
Merlot,
Chardonnay,
Or a Cabernet
Sauvignon Blanc,
A special friend,
For a special time
of day,
For a special
lady,
For that special
one,
With a special
meal,
With that special
atmosphere,
The log burner,
Slowing roasting
the logs,
The lights turned
down,
His legs stretched
out,
Resting on the
table,
His arm,
Rolled out,
Across the sofa,
She snuggling
back,
Her long,
Soft black hair,
Sinking back,
Beneath his
shoulder,
Her nose,
Muzzling into his
chest,
His left hand on
the remote,
Softening the
tones,
Softening the
soul,
Relaxing,
Drifting away,
His head drops,
On to her’s
Falling,
Falling,
Into a deep sleep.
