Money
Air,
And lots of it,
Fresh too,
Not stagnant,
And stinky,
Sweat,
Pouring by the bucket load,
Soaking his shirt,
Wetting his pants,
Running,
Balls passing,
Bodies pounding,
Expiring,
Dropping,
Panting,
Points growing,
Points getting higher,
A looser in tears,
A winner in cheers,
A game fought
Much like chess,
A war lost,
Much like
An empire
In slow decline,
A battle won,
Like a snakes and ladders,
On the way to the top.
They are there for all to see,
For all to fancy,
To be an object of his desires,
To be an object of his imagination,
He loves their beauty,
He loves their creation,
He loves being around them,
Swimming in their presence,
He loves, their mind,
Men are from Mars,
And women are from Venus,
And he,
Himself knows this more than anybody
else
He’s like most men,
As much as he loves them,
He will never understand them,
Not one bit,
But,
He will spend the rest of his life
trying,
Knowing,
That it’s a journey he will never
complete.
Numbers,
One plus one,
Doesn’t equal window,
Nor does two plus two equal poo,
Yet,
He loves it all the same,
Trying to work out those mysteries,
Trying to find out,
Where he can get that extra buck
from,
That extra dollar,
To save,
And to spend,
He loves to use his maths,
To help and to save,
For another rainy day
Clearing the fog,
Wiping away the mist,
Showing that in money,
There is sun,
And that where there is sun,
There is something,
To say,
That, in fact,
Does make the world go round.
